For RA mid-semester training the entire staff went through something called a baby mall. There were two different babies being handed out along with some money and a packet of information on the stores. We were then supposed to go to the stores and buy things for our babies. The things you could buy ranged from prevention of disease to body image traits. As we went through, we noticed that the blue babies weren’t being treated the same as the orange babies. They were being turned away and some people were just not selling.
It taught us a lot about really, what’s going on in the world. Some groups of people are offered services that others are not. It happens every day. Making sure we know that, as well as educating ourselves is important.
